“The Cross Before the Crown”
When I was a child the dreams i had were big,
to run the race and win at any cost
To climb the highest mountain just for victory, savoring the sound of the applause
The echo of approval was music to my ears, but glory seemed to quickly slip away
I’d never hear the trumpet’s sound till I put the cross before the crown.
So I started writing songs, I had some things to say, people joined and sang my lullabies
The crowds got big and so’d my head, I thought i had it made, but i was empty way deep, down inside
One day we all were dancing then it all faded away, I should’ve know to turn my ears to you

Only one can stop my head from spinning ’round
I can try to find the key, but God’s the only one who can set me free
Now the time has come, though I’ve been slow to change desperation’s led me here to you
I know my ways are not your ways so i reach for the truth, I am here to give my heart to you

“Are We Prepared To Fly?”
We come into this world a miracle in every mother’s hands
Seems we’re just a small piece of a puzzle
We’re so much more in our father’s plan
One day we crawl, another we stand, run to chase our future
Will we reach a higher place we can’t see from here?
God gave us wings so we can reach the sky… Are we prepared to fly?
He wouldn’t tell us where to go without direction, or point and say ‘I hope you make it there’
He gives us strength to win our battles when life’s too much to bear
He holds the key to victory, holds us through our pain, has the plan for our future
Will we reach a higher place we can’t see from here?
God gave us wings so we could reach the sky… Are we prepared to fly?

“The Steeple”
How he got there is anybody’s guess.Spirit broken, he was drowning in a mess. he himself created
Now a rescue was his plea. To save him from an early grave his soul had to be freed
The word surrender never sounded good, but now his life was empty so he figured that he should.
When he knelt his body trembled, like a weight had been removed. Lifting up his head he felt a peace so bright and new
Then he saw the steeple rising through the trees
Reminding him of a man who died so we’d be free
Jesus brought the gift of hope, paid for you and me
So a miracle could happen at the steeple in the trees
Soon the changes would happen in his life. A new perception, desire to give up wrong for right.
To look outside himself and see through another’s eyes. Born again, he’d found the joy behind that old disguise
Then he saw the steeple rising through the trees
Reminding him of a man who died so we’d be free
Jesus brought the gift of hope, paid for you and me

To fill the emptiness, and ease the pain, to mend my broken heart there’s only one way to explain
